Pachacamac, 30 kms south of Lima, was formerly the most important religious place of the central coast of Peru that still maintains temples dating from four different periods of pre-inca and Inca history.

Itinerary:
Pick up from your hotel and drive to Pachacamac. Upon arrival, we´ll visit the site museum where we´ll see, among other treasures, the exact replica of Pachacamac (The most important God in the central coast of Peru). After we´ll explore (hop on/hop off) the temple of Pachacamac, the painted temple, the temple of the Sun and other intriguing religious and administrative buildings. Next, we´ll go to Lurín town, only few more minutes apart, where we´ll visit an asociation of entrepreneurs called ICHIMAY WARI. This is a small organized community that offers travelers the posibility to appreciate their world class textile, and wooden traditional work through a guided visit plus an entertaining and even relaxing CLAY WORKSHOP where we´ll get creative and paint our own small piece of art that we´ll take home with us!!! We´ll share lunch with them too! Althoug not compulsory, this is unique ocassion to purchase a very authentic piece of peruvian art and craft.

It´s a mansion with 11 permanent and temporary exhibitions halls. It shows an important art collection with outstanding paintings by Bernardo Bitti and Escuela Cusqueña.

The Museum of Contemporary Art - Lima (MAC Lima), is a private institution committed to the diffusion of modern and contemporary art through collections, temporary exhibitions and different educational and cultural programs.


Mario Testino Museum – MATE

Mario Testino is one of the most influential photographers of the world. The permanent collection of photos is divided into seven themed rooms showing a different aspect of Testino’s work.


Amano Museum Foundation

The museum is privately owned, constructed and designed by Mr. Yoshitaro Amano, who decided to place a value on the artifacts recovered of the Chancay Valley and Culture. He began the task of collecting, cleaning and their general conservation.


Huaca Pucllana

Huaca Pucllana is of the most important monuments in the central coast of Peru (200-700 AD), where currently our capital city is located. It has been used As an administrative and ceremonial center (Lima culture), As a cemetery (Wari culture) and as a place of offerings and rituals (Ichma culture)

Automobile Museum

The museum hosts a collection of motor vehicles dating from 1901 to the 70s that were used to transport or owned by different local and foreign important personalities . The museum has its own restoration workshop. All cars in the exhibition are in perfect condition and fully functional.


Gold Museum of Peru

The Gold Museum of Peru, exhibits valuable gold pieces from different pre-Hispanic Peruvian cultures as well as a collection of weapons and some jewelry that belonged to important characters of world history.

Museum of the Reserve Bank of Peru

It has three main permanent exhibition areas: The Archaeological Collection, The art Gallery, and The Folk Art It has also an exhibition of coins and medals issued by the Peruvian Reserve Bank.


Museum of Descalzos

The museum has restored important paintings, divided by schools, the most representative are Lima, Cuzco and Quito schools. In the cloisters and corridors you can see the portraits of the most famous men of science and holiness dating from the eighteenth century.


Museum of the Inquisition and Congress

The Museum works in the same building that hosted the Inquisition between 1584 and 1810. Its interior retains the rooms in which it was carried out the process of inquiry. The building has many original objects that show the techniques used in the process of those accused of crimes of faith.


San Marcos Cultural Center

San Marcos Cultural Centre hosts the Archaeology and Anthropology Museum of San Marcos, which was founded in 1919, and the Museum of Art of San Marcos, which was founded in 1970 respectively.


House of the Peruvian Literature

It aims to stimulate interest in reading, and knowledge of literary evolution and its main representatives. It gives us a journey through the literary memory of our country since pre-Hispanic times to the present.

MALI is one of the leading museums in the country, with a proven track record in conservation, research and diffusion of Peruvian art.


Mineral Museum Andrés del Castillo

It has the most important collection of crystallized minerals that exist in Peru. Among them is the Fluorescent Room that exhibits minerals with luminescent properties.


Rafael Larco Herrera Museum

Surrounded by beautiful gardens, it is considered one of the best museums in Latin America, which exhibits the best and most complete collection of gold and silver pre-Hispanic Peru in the world. It is also known for its department stores and showrooms of erotic pottery.

National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru

Is the first and most representative museum of our country. There are approximately 300,000 items of historical and artistic value. It has also documentaries, photographic and bibliographic information corresponding to our pre-Hispanic, colonial and republican past.

1. Basilica and Convent of Santo Domingo

It is a place of great importance for Limeños since the two most venerated saints of Lima - Santa Rosa de Lima and San Martin de Porres have lived there. Santa Rosa´s grave is in the church!


2. Church and Convent of Saint Francis

The area of ​​the cloisters, decorated with tiles, hosts the Museum of Virreinal Art. In addition, you can visit the catacombs (underground galleries) that served as cemetery during the Colony.


3. Basílica de Nuestra Señora de La Merced

Declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation, was built in 1535. The facade carved in granite brought from Panama has a Churrigueresque Baroque Lima style.


4. Santuary and Monastery of Las Nazarenas

The Church of Las Nazarenas was originally built in the late eighteenth century. Inside, there´s the image of the Lord of Miracles, painted in oil on a rough adobe wall by a black slave. This was the only wall that remained standing after the earthquakes of 1655, 1687 and 1746.


5. Church and Monastery of Santa Rosa de Lima

It was built next to the house where Santa Rosa de Lima was born and lived. There´s a lemon tree planted by the saint and a 19 meters deep well, in which they said she threw the key of the belt around her waist as a sign of penance.
